Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board has identified Victoria Street, Jordan Avenue as a location for pedestrian safety improvements. On their behalf, Auckland Transport (AT) is proposing the following changes
Victoria Street and Jordan Ave intersection
Install centre line along Victoria Street
install new side islands and pram crossings (kerb ramps, which help people with strollers or wheelchairs move easily between the footpath and the road).
install no stopping noat all times (broken yellow lines) to improve pedestrian access and better intersection safety with improved visibility for both pedestrian and vehicle user. This will result in the loss of 8 on street car parks
upgrade the Give Way control to Stop control at the intersection of Victoria Street and Princes Street
new painted flush median strip, and install no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) for better intersection safety with improved visibility for both pedestrian and vehicle user. This will result in the loss of 22 on street parking spaces
This project is funded by the Local Board Transport Capital Fund. This fund is used to make improvements based on community priorities, which may not be covered by other programmes of work.
