About the Project
We’re upgrading the footpath and roadside drains (kerb and channel) on Poland Road between Hillside Road and the Mitre 10 driveway (Poland side) as part of our regular Summer Road Reno renewals programme.
This will make the road safer, stronger, and better prepared for bad weather.
- Temporary changes – 7 weeks, 2 phases, 3 stages
Night works first, then short road closure for final rebuild - We’re fixing the old footpath and drains, putting in new underground drains, upgrading the stormwater system, and building a new footpath and road edge.
- We need to do the enabling work first (drains, kerbs, and footpaths) to prepare the road, then the rehab stage rebuilds and resurfaces it to make it stronger and longer-lasting.

The work we’ll be doing and traffic management & detours
- We’ll be doing work in stages for approximately 7 weeks. We’ll be working from 7pm – 5am to deliver this project as quickly as possible.
- We know construction, particularly at night – can be disruptive. We’ll try to keep noise levels down.
- We aim to start work on time but factors outside our control, such as weather, could mean a delayed timeline. If the delay is significant, we’ll let you know and update the webpage regularly.
- In advance of our start date there will be digital signs set up along the route to inform the community about the closure and traffic directions for surrounding roads, also see the maps on our webpage.
- Expect traffic delays, especially during peak times.
- x bus stops will be temporarily closed, and some services will be affected – please use the AT mobile app or the QR codes on posters available at the effected bus stops for more information.
- Detours will be in place from 17th Sept 2025, so allow extra travel time. Follow all traffic signs, signals, and directions for safety. Take care while driving, walking, or cycling in the area, especially if you live along one of the detour routes.
- Driveway and vehicle access to will be managed throughout when we work outside your property. On-street parking will be limited.
- Access for people on foot will remain open
- Council waste and recycling collection will continue as normal. If access to your bin collection spot is restricted, our team will assist you with an alternative location.

Where we’ll be working
Before the work starts, digital signs will be set up along the route and near the town centre to inform the community about the closure and traffic directions for surrounding roads.
