Improving road safety and visibility on Phyllis Street and at Phyllis Reserve

We’ve received a community request to change the crossing where the Waterview Shared Path crosses Phyllis Street at Phyllis Reserve, so people walking and cycling have clearer priority and drivers have better visibility.

The changes we’re proposing

  • Change the cyclist-facing Give Way control at the Phyllis Street crossing to a Slow control.
  • Install new vehicle facing Give way signs on Phyllis Street
  • Install Paired crossing markings (also known as a dual or parallel crossing) feature a traditional pedestrian zebra crossing positioned directly alongside a cyclist crossing, which is highly visible due to its green surface colouring.
  • Remove redundant signage
