Onslow Avenue and The Drive Intersection Improvements
We are working to make it easier and safer for you to access the intersection of Onslow Avenue and The Drive in Epsom.
What we are doing
We are working to make it easier and safer for you to access the intersection of Onslow Avenue and The Drive in Epsom. The proposed roundabout will help slow vehicles and make it clearer and safer for people to move through the intersection, whether you are walking, driving, living nearby, working or visiting the area.
What we are proposing
We are proposing the following safety upgrades at the Onslow Avenue and The Drive intersection:
Install a new mountable roundabout to help slow traffic and support safer crossing and turning movements Onslow Avenue.
Install four pedestrian refuge crossings at the roundabout on all legs of the intersection.
Reconstruct footpaths, realign kerbs and berms, and update road markings and signs to support the new layout.
Install new broken yellow lines (NSAAT) to keep parked vehicles clear of the crossings and improve visibility for pedestrians and drivers. As a result, 5 on-street parking spaces will be removed on Onslow Avenue, and 9 on-street parking spaces on The Drive.
This includes the following changes:
On Onslow Avenue:
Remove 1 parking space outside 52 Onslow Avenue on Onslow Avenue west approach.
Remove 2 parking spaces outside 94 The Drive on Onslow Avenue east approach.
Remove 2 parking space outside 99 The Drive on The Drive west approach.
On The Drive:
Remove 3 parking spaces outside 92 The Drive on The Drive north approach.
Remove 1 parking space outside 99 The Drive on The Drive north approach.
Remove 4 parking spaces outside 52 Onslow Avenue on The Drive south approach.
Remove 1 parking space outside 94 The Drive on The Drive south approach.
You can view the proposed layout in the attached plans.

Why we are doing this
Improving safety
Nine crashes were reported between 2021 and 2025, including one serious-injury crash and two minor-injury crashes.
Most crashes involved drivers turning or crossing from Onslow Avenue and failing to give way to traffic on The Drive.
Two crashes involved people crossing Onslow Avenue.
Making the intersection safer for everyone
Our investigation identified unsafe gap selection and a lack of suitable pedestrian crossing facilities.
The proposed improvements will reduce crash risk and make the area safer, more accessible and better connected.
