Why is Auckland Transport providing a bus layover facility?
Buses currently lay over on Mahuru Street so drivers can take breaks, change over, or prepare for their next service. Space for bus layovers in Newmarket is limited, and there is not enough room on‑street to support current and future services.

What is happening to the Wilsons Parking area on Mahuru Street?
AT owns this land, and it will be converted into the off‑street bus layover facility. Paid parking in this area will no longer be available once construction begins.
Where can I park instead?
Newmarket has a wide range of parking options, with over 6,000 publicly available off‑street spaces, including privately owned car parks and Westfield Newmarket. On‑street parking is also available on main arterial roads during evenings and outside peak times.
