About the project
We’re responding to a request from Bike Auckland to improve bike facilities and access on William Pickering Drive in Rosedale.
When vehicles are parked on the cul-de-sac end of William Pickering Drive, it reduces visibility and makes it difficult for cyclists and pedestrians to safely connect to the Upper Harbour shared path.
To make this connection safer and easier to use we need to make some changes.
The changes we're between April - May 2026
Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) outside 1a William Pickering Drive.
Remove 1 parking space outside 1a William Pickering Drive for the installation of a bike ramp.
Installing a bike ramp, so the cyclists can safely manoeuvre from the road surface to the pedestrian and bike crossing to access the Upper Harbour shared path.
Benefits to your community
Improve access on William Pickering Drive for cyclists to be able to safely access the Upper Harbour shared path.
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road - making the street safer for everyone.
What happens next
We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parking illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
How to contact us
If you’d like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our websiteby 3 April 2026.
