About the project
We're responding to concerns raised by the community that it’s hard to see oncoming traffic when turning from Lyons Avenue onto Jellicoe Road.
Cars parked along the southern side of Jellicoe Road, outside #64 Lyons Ave, block visibility, making it unsafe for drivers entering Jellicoe Road from Lyons Avenue.
To make the intersection safer for everyone, we’re making some changes.
The changes we're making by April/May 2026
Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) around the corner of Lyons Avenue and Jellicoe Road, Murrays Bay.
Installing a white parking bay line on the southern side of Jellicoe Road, outside #64 Lyons Ave, to clearly show where cars can park safely.
Benefits to your community
Easier access for residents to get in and out of the street, use their driveways and access their homes.
Clears access for emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks.
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making the street safer for everyone.
What happens next
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will tried to minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
How to contact us
If you'd like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there's anything we've missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our website by 26 November 2025.
