About the project
We're responding to the community concerns that it’s difficult for rubbish trucks and other emergency vehicles to turn safely in Elgin Place.
The street is a narrow cul-de-sac, and when cars parked on both sides - especially near the end - it blocks access, driveways, and makes it hard for rubbish trucks to turn and get in and out.
The changes we're making by February 2026
- Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) around the end of the cul-de-sac from #6 to #9 Elgin Place, Red Beach.
- To clear access for the changes, we need to reallocate road space by removing three parking spaces.
Benefits to your community
- Easier and safer turning for rubbish trucks and other large vehicles.
- Clears access for large vehicles and emergency services into and out of Eglin Place.
- Driveways kept clear so residents can get in and out more easily.
- Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making the street safer for everyone.
What happens next
- Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
- It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
- We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will tried to minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
- Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
