Improving access and safety on Harley Road in Takapuna
Project Update - Late April 2026
In March 2025, we engaged with residents living on Harley Road to improve access and safety on Harley Road in Takapuna. During our engagement period, Several residents asked for extra “No Stopping At All Times” (Broken Yellow Lines) between #31 and #29A to make it easier and safer to drive past the give-way sign.
Revisions made in response to feedback:
- After carefully considering all feedback, we will be installing “No Stopping At All Times” (Broken Yellow Lines) outside property numbers #31 and #29A.
We will also make the changes we told you about earlier:
- Paint “No Stopping at All Times” (Broken Yellow Lines) outside #25 and #27 Harley Road, removing one parking space.
- A drawing showing the updated design can be found to the right of this page labelled Design 2 Harley Road.
- This project is planned to be delivered in July 2026 and it will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions.
- If you have any questions or comments, please email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz by May 4, 2026.
Engagement Outcome Mid-April 2026
The engagement for this project has now closed and we will inform the community about the engagement outcome soon.
About this project - March 2026
We’re responding to concerns raised by some residents to improve access on this narrow section of Harley Road in Takapuna. We’ve heard that it can be challenging for people to get in and out of the street safely. To improve safety and ease of use, we’re installing broken yellow lines on this part of the road.
The changes we’re making by mid-2026:
- Painting “No Stopping at All Times” (broken yellow lines) outside #25 and #27 Harley Road, removing one parking space to clear access and keep traffic moving safely.

A larger drawing showing the changes can be found to the right of this page.
Benefits to your community.
- Easier for residents to get in and out of the street.
- Clears access for emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks.
- Improves safety by removing parked vehicles that block visibility for all road users.
What happens next:
- It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions.
- We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
- Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
