Golf Road and Fern Avenue intersection, Epsom - No Stopping At All Times (broken yellow lines)
Consultation Outcome
We thank all respondents for their engagement and feedback on our proposal to improve access and visibility at the intersection of Golf Road and Fern Avenue.
After reviewing the feedback we received, we will proceed with no changes to our proposal to paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) on both corners of the intersection at Golf Road and Fern Avenue.
What happens next
We anticipate these changes will be installed between March and April 2026.
In good weather conditions, it will take one day to paint the broken yellow lines.
Community Feedback
Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge.
We received a fair amount of feedback on the proposal through the online survey, and none of the submissions indicated a negative impact on the community.
All respondents supported the proposal and provided some suggestions. Below are some of their supportive comments:
- It would improve visibility and therefore make it safer for drivers and pedestrians. Otherwise, it becomes congested and dangerous.
- Reduce the number of vehicles parking on the corner of Golf Road and Fern Avenue and improve visibility and accessibility to Fern Avenue, especially given the large number of vehicles parked on Golf Road during weekdays.
- Provide clear visibility when entering and exiting Fern Avenue.
- Ensure safety for pedestrians and other vehicles by maintaining good visibility and easy access at all times, as it is currently dangerous due to the large number of pedestrians, cyclists, scooters entering and exiting the park near Fern Avenue at various times of the day.
- Ensure that rubbish, delivery, trades vehicles, construction trucks have access at all times as Fern Avenue is a single lane street.
- Eliminate any accidents (potentially serious or fatal) that could occur due to the current lack of visibility.
Below is a summary of your suggestions and our responses:
Suggestions to improve the proposal
Suggest extending the no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) to the end of Golf Road.
Our Response: While we understand that vehicles parked on the road can occasionally cause inconvenience, we also need to balance the parking needs of visitors and businesses with maintaining safe and reasonable access to our roads. Therefore, at this stage, removing additional parking is not considered necessary.
The current proposal aims to improve the safe operation of the intersection and provide clear access for road users turning into Fern Avenue.
Suggest installing P120 time restriction during the week.
Our Response: We appreciate this suggestion however, we need to balance the parking needs of visitors and businesses with maintaining safe and reasonable access to our roads. So, changes to parking restrictions are not considered necessary at this stage.
About the project
We’re proposing changes to the intersection at Golf Road and Fern Avenue to improve access and visibility.
We’ve received requests from the community about access issues on Fern Avenue. Vehicles parked within the intersection are blocking visibility and making it difficult for traffic to turn and exit the side road. Over the past six months, this intersection has received a high number of parking enforcement requests.
To address this issue, we propose installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) near the intersection.
