About the project
Upcoming Changes to Pedestrian Crossing at Glenmore Road!
We’re proposing improvements to pedestrian safety and accessibility along Glenmore Road, near the intersection with Whiteacres Drive. This project has been initiated in response to community requests for a new pedestrian facility in the area.
Our investigation has identified moderate pedestrian activity generated by nearby bus stops, local schools, and the walkway connections at Hamish Place and Whiteacres Drive. These improvements aim to support safer and more accessible travel for people walking in the area.
What we’re planning to do before June 2026
Install a new pedestrian refuge island on Glenmore Road between Hamish Place and Whiteacres Drive, providing a safer midpoint for people crossing the road.
Extend the kerbs at both Whiteacres Drive and Hamish Place and upgrade the pram crossings to improve accessibility for all pedestrians.
Removing 16 on-street parking spaces around the intersection to improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
Relocate the existing bus stops so they align more effectively with the new pedestrian crossing point.
You can view the proposed changes in the attached plan.
How this will benefit your neighbourhood
These upgrades will make the Glenmore Road safer and more convenient for everyone - whether you’re walking or driving through the area.
Provides a safer crossing point by introducing a new refuge island, giving people a secure place to wait while crossing the road.
We want to hear your feedback on:
Any specific local knowledge, operational issues or suggestions that may help to refine the proposed design.
