About the project
We’ve received requests from members of the community to improve vehicle access along Glengarry Road in Glen Eden. When vehicles are parked on the side of the road in some locations this can make it difficult for other traffic to drive through safely, with drivers, including bus drivers, sometimes needing to cross the centreline.
In some locations having cars parked on the side of the road can also cause visibility issues where people are crossing the road. To improve safety and visibility on Glengarry Road, we are planning to implement some changes.
The changes we’re making
Paint “no stopping at all times” (broken yellow lines) on Glengarry Road
Between #359 and #355, to improve visibility for the crossing locations with approximately 2–3 parking spaces removed.
Between #315 and #313 in the intersection of Nicolas Avenue and Glengarry Road, no parking spaces are proposed to be removed. As parking is not permitted within 6m of an intersection, the new markings will highlight to drivers that parking is not legally permitted here.
Between #261 and #253(near Solar Road), approximately 9 parking spaces are proposed to be removed on the carriageway to improve vehicle access, allowing traffic to pass safely without needing to cross the centreline.
Download the drawings to see show where the broken yellow lines will be installed.
Benefits to your community:
Ease of access for all residents, emergency services and large vehicles such as buses along Glengarry Road
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming vehicles as well as people walking, cycling and crossing the road.
Improves safety by preventing parked vehicles from obstructing the view for drivers coming out of driveways and access to homes along the road during emergency situations.
What happens next
We will contact residents and businesses before any work begins.
Any updates to the plan will be posted on our website.
Painting the road markings will take one day in good weather conditions.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience and will minimize disruption while prioritizing safety.
Please Park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed.
