About the project

We’re responding to access and visibility concerns raised by the community on Craigbank Avenue, New Lynn.

Vehicles parked near the bend make it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic and turn safely, creating a safety risk.

To improve visibility and make the road safer for everyone, we’re introducing parking restrictions at the bend.

The changes we’re making:

  • Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) between 14 -16 Craigbank Avenue. We need to re-allocate road space and remove 7 parking spaces to clear access and improve visibility.

Benefits to your community:

  • Safer journeys, the improvements will help reduce the risk of crashes and make it safer for all road users.
  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road - making the street safer for everyone.
  • Clears and ensures there is enough space for vehicles turning at the bend of Craigbank Avenue.

What happens next

We will install these changes in February 2026. Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.

It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions.

We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.

Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
