About the project
We're making changes to Te Kawa Road to improve vehicle access and traffic flow.
We’ve heard from the community that cars parking too close to the chicane are causing congestion and making it hard for vehicles to get through, especially during peak times.
To address this, we're extending the no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) near the chicane.
What’s changing by December 2025
- Extending 39 metres of no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) from the southern side of the corner at the intersection of Campbell Road and Te Kawa Road to the driveway of 100 Te Kawa Road.
- Clear access and re-allocate road space by removing six on-street parking spaces.
Benefits to your community:
These changes will:
- Make it easier for vehicles to access Te Kawa Road.
- Improve traffic flow and reduce queuing during peak times.
What happens next
- Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
- It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions.
- We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
- Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
