Project Update (as of 20 May 2025)

We'll keep the community updated when the budget and construction are finalised.

About the Project:

We’re improving footpath safety on Becroft Drive, Forrest Hill to provide a safe, convenient, and well-connected walking option in your community.

Your road has been selected as one of our focus areas to support more sustainable transport options, including better walking facilities and access to public transport. This project is funded by the Auckland Council Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate (CATTR), which aims to reduce transport emissions in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

The changes we’re making in March- April 2025:

  • Building a new concrete footpath along Becroft Drive that connects from the #102 Becroft Drive to 119 Becroft Drive.

  • Painting Broken Yellow Lines near Parklane drive to Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming vehicles as well as people walking, cycling and crossing the road.

  • Installing a new Pram Ramp at the intersection of Becroft Drive and Parklane Drive. Better pram crossings promote accessibility and safety for parents, caregivers, and anyone with mobility needs.

  • Installing a yellow tactile island to help vision-impaired people find their way to the crossing and safely cross the road.

A drawing on the right-hand side of this page shows where the changes will be installed.

Benefits to your community:

  • Footpaths make it safer for the community by separating motorists and traffic from people on foot.
  • Well-maintained footpaths are safer for people who walk and ride their bikes and scooters, reducing the risk of being hurt or injured.
  • More footpaths make it easier and stress-free for you and local children to move about your community, offering better connections to schools, parks, public transport and other local amenities.
  • Encouraging walking and cycling is good for the environment and good for your health. It helps reduce reliance on cars for local trips, decreasing traffic congestion and reducing our carbon emissions.
  • Pram crossings make it safer and more convenient for people pushing prams or strollers to cross roads. It has a small ramp at the curb level reducing the need to lift the pram which can be unsafe, especially when managing traffic. It helps ensure those with mobility needs can navigate crossings more easily.
