Consultation Outcome

We would like to thank local businesses for taking the time to engage with us and share their feedback on our proposal to improve vehicle access and safety on Bassant Avenue, Penrose.

Feedback was received through a hand‑delivered letter drop.

The proposal aims to improve vehicle access and safety by extending no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) between the driveways of 6–8 and 10 Bassant Avenue.

After reviewing the feedback we received, we are proceeding with the proposal without any changes.

What happens next

We anticipate these changes will be installed by July 2026.

In good weather conditions, it will take one day to paint the broken yellow lines.

Community Feedback

Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge.

Below is a summary of your feedback and our responses.

Concerns

Concern that the proposal would not make much difference, as parking behaviour may remain unchanged. Some occupiers were more concerned about vehicles blocking their driveways than about parking along the street.

Our Response: We acknowledge that broken yellow lines alone may not significantly change parking behaviour along the road. However, they will allow enforcement action to be taken against vehicles parked in restricted areas.

Parking within one metre of a driveway is illegal, please report illegal parking here: https://at.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us

Suggestions to improve the project

Suggest removing more than three on‑street parking spaces to encourage people to park slightly further away from their premises.

Our Response: The proposed broken yellow lines are intended to improve access along the road. Parking within one metre of a driveway is illegal, and if this remains an issue, please report illegal parking here: https://at.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us

About the project

We’re proposing changes along Bassant Avenue to improve accessibility and safety for all road users.

Local businesses have told us that parked vehicles are blocking the road, making it harder for drivers to navigate safely.

To address this, we are proposing installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) along the road.
