Aranui Road and Ruawai Road, Mt Wellington - Road safety improvements

Road safety improvement on Aranui Road and at nearby intersections are now complete.

Now that the work is finished, we’d like to hear you think about the changes.

Improvements include:

• Broken yellow lines near 67 Aranui Road to improve visibility around the bend.
• Broken yellow lines at the Aranui Road and Ruawai Road intersection to improve visibility and support safer pedestrian and bus movements.
• Broken yellow lines at the Ruawai Road and Johnston Road intersection to improve visibility and support safer turning movements.
• "SLOW" road markings with red surfacing near 64 Aranui Road to encourage drivers to take greater care in an area used by people walking to and from nearby education facilities and bus stops.
• Introduced time-based parking restrictions outside 57 and 60 Aranui Road during school bus operating hours while retaining parking at other times.

About the project

Aranui Road can be a busy road connecting to Sylvia Park and there have been recent housing developments in the area leading more cars parked on the road.

Following feedback from residents, we’re planning to add broken yellow lines (no parking at any time) at the curvy bend outside 67 Aranui Road and at the approaches to the Aranui/Ruawai and Ruawai/Johnston Road intersections to improve visibility and help everyone move around the area more safely.
