We’re proposing to extend route 989 to serve more of Milldale and Millwater and improve connections to Silverdale.
Milldale is growing rapidly, and we want to make sure that public transport access grows with the community
Route 989 currently connects Milldale with Hibiscus Coast Station and runs every 30 minutes from 6am to 7.30pm, seven days a week.
The proposed extension would improve access to more places in your community, including Milldale Town Centre, Highgate Business Park, and Silverdale Mall.
Help us shape route 989
We are proposing two routes as options for the route extension:
1. Option A - Bonair Crescent
This route will use the south side of Bonair Crescent to connect Milldale to Silverdale. The route will require new bus stops and minor roadworks at the Bonair Crescent/Croix Greens intersection. These works are essential for bus access and would likely take at least 12 months to complete.
2. Option B – Wainui Road
This route will use Wainui Rd to connect to Silverdale. The route will require the construction of new bus stops and pedestrian crossings. This option will likely take up to 12 months to implement.

Option B – Wainui Road

We would like to know what you think about:
Which route you prefer
The hours the bus will run
The general locations of the bus stops
Further consultation on bus stops and crossings will take place once the route is confirmed. This will likely happen towards the end of 2026.
Provide your feedback
Community engagement is open for 4 weeks from 31 August 2026 to 27 September 2026.
