Manukau Road is a busy road, how will the proposed changes impact traffic?

What investigations have been completed to confirm the changes are needed?

We investigated the crash history involving pedestrians at this location and found that there have been two serious crashes involving a pedestrian trying to cross at this location between 2018 and 2022.

We also surveyed the number of people crossing Manukau Road during peak pedestrian hours and found that approximately 180 people cross between 10 and 12 am, and 4 and 6pm on weekdays and weekends.

How will my feedback impact this project?

Feedback helps the project team decide on the best way to move forward. A decision to proceed or not proceed is made after considering feedback from the community as well as the safety needs of the area and budget to deliver the improvements.

How does this project align with AT's plans and strategies?

This project supports Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau’s commitment to Vision Zero, an ambitious transport safety vision, with the goal of no deaths or serious injuries on our transport system by 2050. This approach acknowledges that as people we all make mistakes, however a mistake should not mean someone dies or is seriously injured on our roads. It’s also an approach that values everyone using the road, not just those in vehicles. Find out more here Vision Zero for the greater good
