THIS PROJECT IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD AND CONSULTATION WILL BE REOPENED SHORTLY

About the project

Aucklanders have told us that moving around our city safely and easily is important to them. We are proposing some improvements to your area.

Auckland Transport have been working with the Pine Harbour Marina and Empire Capital to provide better connectivity for the local community who use the Pine Harbour Ferry Terminal.

What we are proposing

The changes we are proposing at the Pine Harbour Marina are:

  • Installing two new bus stops, including installation of hardstand (concrete pad).

  • Installing a new footpath access to the bus stops.

  • Installing bus marking at the proposed bus stop locations.

  • Installing new pedestrian crossing south of the new bus stops proposal.

  • Installing broken yellow lines along the Pine Harbour Marina to allow buses to access safely.

  • Installing 2 mobility parking spaces.

  • Installing a keep clear zone for proposed bus turning circle.

Installing these new bus stops will enable bus patrons to have better access to buses, making public transport safe and efficient in this area. The concrete pad area will allow bus passengers to safely board and alight the bus. The new pedestrian crossings will allow bus passengers to safely travers through the road. The proposed changes will result in approximately 7 Auckland Transport spaces being removed and 30 spaces along this road due to factors line the introduction of broken yellow lines to ensure safe access for cars and buses.

Auckland Transport is taking a Vision Zero approach to road safety. This means we are striving to have zero deaths or serious injuries on our transport system by 2050. To achieve this, we are working to create a more forgiving road network that recognises that we are human and make mistakes. But those mistakes should not mean someone dies or is seriously injured on our roads.

Benefits and impacts

  • Improving connectivity for the community who use the ferry terminal.

  • Improve safety for pedestrians coming and going from Pine Harbour Marina.

  • Better accessibility for disabled parking at the Pine Harbour Marina.

What we want your feedback on

We are wanting to hear your feedback on aspects of this proposal such as:

  • The placement of the pedestrian crossing and lighting
  • Any minor safety hazards you would like to see addressed
