Consultation has concluded. We are currently looking at the feedback received.

What we are proposing

The Blockhouse Bay population is growing, so we need to improve walking routes and bus connection options in the town centre. We’re proposing safety improvements at the Blockhouse Bay Road and Gilfillan Street intersection. Driving and getting around on foot will be safer and easier, to enjoy the town centre.

We want you to share your thoughts on the proposed designs and safety improvements.

On Blockhouse Bay Road and Gilfillan Street intersection, we propose:

  • Relocating and raising the zebra crossing outside Pioneers Mini Mart
  • Painting broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) on both sides of the road of the raised crossing.
  • Upgrading the triangle markings to a roundabout so the motorists can driver over it at a safe speed.
  • Remove the existing bus stop (ID:8584) outside Blockhouse Bay Primary School and paint broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times).

On Gilfillan Street, the proposed changes consist of:

  • Installing a new speed hump to ensure the drivers slow down before they approach the intersection.
  • Moving the bus stop (ID:8584) outside Blockhouse Bay School to 3 Gilfillan Street.
    • These safety improvements will result in the removal of 4 carparks on Gilfillan Street.

On Blockhouse Bay Road at the centre of town, we propose:

  • Moving two mobility parking spaces outside the Block Café.
  • Installing two bus break stops outside the public toilets.
  • Painting broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) for the buses to drive in and out of the bus break stops easily.
    • These changes will result in the removal of 6 carparks on Blockhouse Bay Road.
