Consultation has concluded

Consultation Outcome

We consulted on this proposal from 4 Mar 2024 to 17 Mar 2024. The feedback we received about the proposal are outlined below:

  • Concerns about the impact on Saturday market retailers and visitors.
  • Concerns about the change not making a difference.

After reviewing all the feedback, we are not proceeding with our proposal to extend the P120 parking restrictions to include Saturdays on Belgium St, Ostend due to the overall lack of support from the community.

Thank you for your feedback.

About the project

In 2020, Auckland Transport installed P120 parking restrictions from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Belgium Street to improve parking availability.

Since the implementation of these parking restrictions, the local community and businesses have asked us to extend the existing parking restrictions to include P120 on Saturdays. They have told us that people parking in these spaces all day on Saturday has made it difficult to find a place to park when visiting the local shops and market.

What we are proposing

We're proposing a P120 parking zone along Belgium Street.

  • The P120 restriction would apply from 8am - 6pm, Monday to Saturday
  • Signs will be installed to show where the P120 applies

We will not be changing the P15 parking restrictions.

Benefits and impacts

  • Improving parking availability and increase parking turnover along Belgium Street, making it easier for visitors to find a place to park

What we want your feedback on

You can play a role in shaping the way we make this happen.

We would like to hear feedback specifically on whether we should extend P120 parking restriction to include Saturday.
