About the project
We’ve received requests from the community to address safety concerns and improve visibility caused by vehicles parked illegally around the intersection of William Laurie Place and Oracle Drive, Albany.
With the increase of parking demand due to the growing number of businesses in the area, the street is experiencing a lot of on-street parking congestion at certain times, and vehicles are parking too close to the intersection. Cars parked on both corners of Oracle Drive near the intersection of William Laurie Place and directly across the exit point present a danger to drivers and other road users. There are safety risks for oncoming vehicles and anyone wanting to exit William Laurie Place due to the incoming traffic.
The changes we're making
Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) around the intersection as detailed in the drawing with this letter. It is already illegal to park this close to the intersection, we are reinforcing this with broken yellow lines.
Benefits to your community
Ensures access for motorists entering or exiting William Laurie Place
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling, and crossing the road
Makes it safer and easier for people walking to access various facilities along William Laurie Place and Oracle Drive, especially the childcare centre nearby
What happens next
We will install these changes by June/July 2025.
Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.
We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.
How to contact us
If you'd like to speak to someone about plans, please email us at ATengagement@at.govt.nz by May 30, 2025.
