About the project

We are committed to enhancing our customers' experience on public transport. To improve services in Whenuapai, we will be implementing a new bus route. This new bus route, the 115, will operate between Westgate and Whenuapai via Trig Road from June 2026. On weekdays the new route 115 will run every 30 minutes, from 05:30 to 23:00, and every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 23:00 on weekends.

This new route will make it easier for people to travel between Whenuapai and Westgate, providing better access to shops, employment and the new Westgate bus station. From Westgate there are good links to and from the City Centre, such as the WX1 Western Express.

Changes we propose to make by June 2026

The new 115 will require the following minor infrastructure changes:

  • One new bus stop at 54 Brigham Creek Road near the BP, with broken yellow lines replacing on-street parking;
  • One upgraded bus stop;
  • A bus turnaround area, which will require the installation of broken yellow lines on the residential streets of Kopuru Road and Lilley Terrace.

We want your feedback on the following three proposals:

  1. We’re proposing to build a new bus stop at 54 Brigham Creek Road. This will mean road markings for a bus stop, footpath improvement, a bus stop sign and installation of approximately 85m of broken yellow lines (including the bus stop), as shown below in figure 2 (and attached in documents folder on right):

2. We propose upgrading the existing bus stop at 114 Totara Road, to allow two buses to stop there at the same time. This will require an extension of the bus stop road markings, shown in figure 3 below (and attached in documents folder on right) .

The bus will need to turn around to start and end its journey at the 114 Totara Road bus stop. This will mean the bus turns right into Kopuru Road, and then turns left into Lilley Terrace, and left again into McCaw Avenue.

3. We propose installing broken yellow line markings on one side of Kopuru Road, and one side of Lilley Terrace to ensure there will always be enough space for a bus to drive along these streets. See figure 3 below (and attached in documents folder on right).

We are seeking community feedback on these proposals – please complete the survey below, or email us by 4pm, 6 March 2026.

Benefits to the community

The new 115 bus service and other improvements to bus services in the area will mean better public transport connections - enabling what matters to Aucklanders: a convenient, well-connected, accessible transport system. More regular and reliable services mean quicker, easier and safer journeys for people in the area.
