Bus stop move on Wesley Street, Devonport
To improve accessibility and safety we are planning to move the bus stop from opposite number 2 Wesley Street to opposite number 4, in Devonport.
The current bus stop design means that the bus stops directly outside and opposite property number 2 are positioned too close together, which causes safety risks with oncoming traffic if buses take over the central lane. Moving one of the bus stops further up Wesley Street, opposite number 4, creates more space and reduces safety risks between buses and other vehicles when buses pull out of stops.
In addition, the stop is currently being obstructed by bushes and trees which makes it hard for passengers to get on and off, is not wheelchair accessible and limits visibility – also causing safety issues.
Bus stop move work details:
Removing the bus stop outside number 2 Wesley Street (including the sign and road markings)
Putting a new bus stop outside number 4 Wesley Street, (including the sign, tactile pavers and road markings)
There will be no changes to parking on Wesley Street
What happens next
We expect these changes to take place in the next couple of months; more information will be provided at a later date and updated on this page.
If you would like to give feedback, please know that the feedback period ends August 15, 2025.
Project Funding
This project is part of the Bus Programme of Works (BPoW) and uses the Bus Access and Optimization (BAO) budget.
