About the project
We’re proposing upgrades to the roundabout to make it safer and easier for people to cross. Currently, the intersection has no dedicated pedestrian facilities, creating barriers for those walking, cycling or using mobility aids.
The new design will add safe crossing points, better connections to local walkways and homes, and features that improve visibility and traffic flow. It also includes mountable traffic islands to allow large and heavy trucks to manoeuvre safely.
To accommodate these safety improvements, 28 parking will need to be reprioritised.
What’s changing
Install new pedestrian refuge islands at all four legs of the roundabout, giving people a safe place to pause when crossing.
Install mountable traffic islands to allow large and heavy vehicles to manoeuvre safely on each leg.
New broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) near crossings to maintain clear sightlines
New footpaths to link existing paths and improve pedestrian access
Reprioritise 28 parking spaces to accommodate these safety improvements.
Two trees to be removed on the southern berm to construct the new footpath.
How this upgrade will benefit the community
Safer crossings for people with prams, wheelchairs, or mobility aids.
Better connections to the Mangere Lagoon Walkway, local streets, and surrounding homes.
Improved traffic flow and visibility for all road users.
Improved turning manoeuvrability for heavy trucks.
We want your feedback
