About the project

We’re planning to install changes that will provide safe, convenient and well-connected walking and cycling options along Glenmore Drive in Warkworth.

In addition to this, we are also applying parking restrictions to address concerns about the road being used by some businesses as storage for their vehicles.

The changes we are making from July 2025

  • Reconstruct the footpath on the western side of Glenmore Drive outside properties #28 to #2, which will involve a short section of kerb extension from the intersection along #2.
  • Reconstruct vehicle crossings that will be impacted by the new footpath.
  • Install bollards on the berm outside #12 Glenmore Drive to prevent any unauthorised vehicle parking.
  • Remove the unauthorised parking spaces in front of of #2 Glenmore Drive that was illegally converted without AT approval, resulting in unlawful encroachment.
  • Implement an 8-hour parking restriction on both sides of Glenmore Drive, approximately between properties #28 and #2, to prevent businesses from storing vehicles on the road. This will apply at all times.
  • Paint broken yellow lines (no parking at all times) in designated areas along Glenmore Drive and Morrison Drive to allow clear access for vehicles and to highlight kerbside spaces that are not sufficient for legal parking.
  • Install new pram crossings with tactile pavers at the corner of Glenmore Drive and Woodcocks Road. Tactile pavers are yellow guidance markers that help the visually impaired find their way to the crossing.

Benefits to your community

  • Footpaths make it safer for the community by separating motorists and traffic from people on foot.
  • More footpaths make it easier and stress-free for the community to move around the neighbourhood, offering better connections to public transport and other local amenities.
  • Pram crossings make it safer and more convenient for people pushing prams or strollers to cross the road. It helps ensure those with mobility needs can navigate crossings more easily.
  • Encourage parking turnover in front of the businesses.
  • Provide clear vehicle access to every entry and exit point.

What happens next

We will begin to work on our plans from July 2025.

Any change to the plan will be updated on this page. We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.
