About the Project
We’re removing pine trees along Ahuroa Road as they have been assessed unsafe and require immediate removal. To remove them safely, we will need to install a large crane on the road to lift the trees from the site.
Due to the cranes size, it will take up most of the road requiring a full road closure to remove several trees along the roadside. With the nature of these works and how close we are to power lines, Ahuroa Road will be closed outside of peak traffic volumes during the day while we remove the trees.
Please find below further information about the updated works. Our work will make the road safer and better prepared for bad weather.
What you need to know
Where
About 1km from J Tolhopf Road, down Ahuroa Road towards Pūhoi.
The closest property is #720 Ahuroa Road (See map overleaf for more details)
When
Monday 3 November for up to 10 days (weather dependent)
Hours of work
Monday to Friday between 9:00am to 3:00pm (outside of peak travel)
What we’ll be doing
Installing a large crane on the roadway between the hours above, blocking road access.
Removing pine trees from the roadside to improve safety for motorists.
Duration
Approximately 10 weekdays (weather dependent)
Why we're doing this work
A large crane, heavy plant and tree cutting machinery will be operating on the road across both lanes.
For your safety and the safety of our crews please keep clear of the site and take alternative routes.
Our team will use this closure to complete the works as safely and efficiently as they can.
Please plan ahead for travel through the site before 9am and after 3pm during the weekdays.
What to expect
We aim to start work on time but factors outside our control, such as weather, could mean a delayed timeline. If the delay is significant, we’ll let you know and update the webpage regularly.
In advance of our start date there will be digital signs set up along the route to inform the community about the closure and traffic directions for surrounding roads, also see the maps on our webpage.
Expect traffic delays, especially during peak times. Access will be temporarily closed, and access will be affected – please use the AT mobile app or the QR codes on signs available nearby for more information.
Follow all traffic signs, signals, and directions for safety. Take care while driving, walking, or cycling in the area, especially if you live along one of the detour routes.
Council waste and recycling collection will continue as normal. If access to your bin collection spot is restricted, our team will assist you with an alternative location.
Where we’ll be working
Before the work starts, signs will be set up along the route to inform the community about the closure and traffic directions for surrounding roads.
You can download maps here on our website. We appreciate your patience during this work.
How travel is affected
Detours will be in place during the works from 9am Monday 3 November, so allow extra travel time.
Take care while driving, walking, or cycling in the area, especially if you live along one of the detour routes.
Follow all traffic signs, signals, and directions for safety.
Clear detour signs will be in place and traffic controllers will help keep things moving.
