About the project

We’re planning to make Tihema Lane in Westgate safer and easier to access by installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) on sections of the road.

Currently, cars can park on both sides of this narrow section of road, which blocks vehicle access to the rest of the street

The changes we’re making February 2025

  • We have received multiple requests from local residents to improve traffic flow and visibility at this location. They have let us know that they support the installation of the no stopping areas on Tihema Lane.

A drawing with details of where the changes will be installed is attached on right hand side of this page.

How this benefits your community

    • Prevents Road Blockages: By having broken yellow lines on one side, it prevents vehicles from parking opposite each other, which can block the road.
    • Enhances Visibility: These changes improve visibility for drivers, allowing them to see oncoming vehicles, people on foot and cycling, and those crossing the road.
    • Fair and Safe: Applying short stretches of broken yellow lines on each side ensures a fair approach and helps maintain safe travel speeds for vehicles.
    • Clears and improves access: Ensures emergency services can get through which can be critical in an emergency situation
