About the Project

We have heard the businesses and the community concerns about mobility parking and general parking availability around Te Ara Pūheke in Henderson. From November 2025, we will be reintroducing time-restricted parking from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday.

Implementing time restrictions will improve parking availability, allowing these parking spaces to be used by everyone, including customers and visitors.

The Changes we're making

  • Reinstall a 2-hour parking restriction (P120) that applies between 8am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday, on the parking spaces near 1A & 3A Smythe Road, Henderson.
  • Reinstating one formalised mobility parking space.
  • P120 signs will be installed to indicate the restriction within the designated parking area.

Benefits to your community

  • More Parking Availability: With a 2-hour parking limit, more people can use the parking spaces throughout the day, making it easier for families and visitors to find a spot.
  • Make it easy for mobility card holders: Mobility card holders will have better chances to find parking while visiting the area.
  • Support Local Businesses: Higher parking turnover means more visitors can access local shops, cafes, and restaurants, boosting sales and foot traffic.
  • Convenient for Families: Families visiting the area will have a better chance of finding parking nearby, making their visit more enjoyable.
  • Better Traffic Flow: With cars coming and going more frequently, there will be less congestion and smoother traffic flow, creating a safer environment for everyone.

What happens next

  • We will install these changes by November 2025.
  • Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.
  • It will take one day for the installation of the new signage in good weather conditions.
  • We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
  • Please remember to park courteously and look for parking restriction signs.
  • Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
