About the project
To improve safety around Taupaki School, we are making several changes to the footpath and the school entrance.
The changes we’re making by June 2026
Building a new footpath on the western side of Cottle Road, from the school entrance to the staff carpark entrance, to connect two existing sections of footpath. The new footpath will provide a direct connection between the school and the neighbouring kindergarten, improving access and safety for children and caregivers.
Installing a speed hump at the school entrance to help reduce vehicle speeds on entry.
Benefits to your community
Footpaths improve safety by separating people walking from traffic and providing safer places to wait when crossing.
Well-designed footpaths reduce the risk of injury for people walking, cycling, or using scooters.
Better footpath connections make it easier and more comfortable to move around the neighbourhood, linking people to schools, parks, public transport, and local amenities.
Supporting walking and cycling improves health and helps reduce car use for short trips, easing congestion and lowering emissions.
What happens next
We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any work taking place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on this website.
