Project Update:

In September 2024 , we told the community that we would paint broken yellow lines outside the property 21 Sylvan Park.

We originally planned to do this work in Feb-March 2025 however, we received feedback that residents were not supportive of relocating the parking from outside number 21.

Therefore, we will no longer proceed with the original plan. Since we are unable to remove the tree, we will revert the parking spaces to their 2008 layout (prior to the road reseal). This change should make it easier for the rubbish truck to drive through and allow pedestrians to walk around the tree.

As a long-term solution, we will investigate building out the footpath around the tree. In the meantime, please park as close to the kerb as possible in this area. To assist our line marking crew, kindly park back from the hockey stick marking to enable them to paint the road. This work will take place over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your cooperation.

About the project

We're planning to make Sylvan Park Avenue in Milford easier to access for larger vehicles and relocating parking spaces.

We have received a request to remove parking at this section of the road from Smart Environmental, the waste contractor for Auckland Council, stating that their waste vehicle cannot access the cul-de-sac if a vehicle is parked slightly away from the kerb. This often happens outside 21 Sylvan Park. Sending an audit vehicle each time this happens is not sustainable.

The changes we’re making by Feb-March 2025:

  • We are planning to paint “no stopping at all times” (broken yellow lines) outside the property at 21 Sylvan Park.
  • To minimise inconvenience for residents, we will relocate the parking area to outside the property at 22 Sylvan Park.
  • Repainting road markings outside 22 Sylvan Park Avenue.

It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions. We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.

Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.

Drawings on the right hand side of this webpage, show where the changes will be installed.

Benefits to your community:

  • Improves accessibility for large vehicles.
  • Ensures ease of access for all vehicles into and out of Sylvan Park Avenue.
  • Enables the safe collection of rubbish and recycling.
