Improving bus connections on Stottholm Road, Titirangi
Engagement Update March 2026
Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback and local insights. Engagement for this project is now complete.
We received feedback from two nearby residents and stakeholders regarding the proposed bus shelter at 75 Stottholm Road. Below is a summary of the key themes raised and how we are responding.
Engagement timeline – Stottholm Rd Bus Shelter
26 Nov LB was notified of upcoming Engagement through EMRP
27 Nov – 11 Dec 2025 – Public engagement period open – 137 letters sent to local residents including a section 339 notice to the directly affected property owner.
Dec 2025 – Feedback received and provided to project team
Jan–Mar 2026 – Project team worked directly with affected property owner to develop mitigation measures
What we heard and how we’re responding
Location of the bus shelter
What we heard:
A nearby property owner raised concerns about the shelter being located directly outside their home, including potential impacts on privacy, noise, littering and loitering. An alternative location closer to higher density housing was suggested.
Our response:
The project team has worked directly with the affected property owner and their representative to understand these concerns. Rather than relocating the shelter, the design has been refined to include mitigation measures that address site specific impacts.
Road condition and vibration concerns
What we heard:
One resident raised concerns about road surfacing, faded line markings and vibration from buses using speed humps.
Our response:
These matters sit outside the scope of the bus shelter project but have been acknowledged. Planned road maintenance is scheduled for the future, and Auckland Transport is aware of vibration concerns associated with speed humps and is progressing additional signage and longer term investigations.
What happens next
Timeframe: We anticipate installing the bus shelter before 30 June 2026.
Approvals: The project is funded by the Whau Local Board, which has indicated support for the project to proceed.
The project team will continue working with the affected property owner and contractors to deliver the agreed mitigation measures ahead of construction.
Engagement Closed
The engagement for this project has now closed, and we will inform the community about the engagement outcome soon.
About the Project
Thanks to funding from the Whau Local Board Transport Capital Fund, we’re improving bus facilities in your area. One of these upgrades is at the bus stop outside 75 Stottholm Road, Titirangi.
The changes we’re making in March 2026
- Install a new bus shelter at bus stop #1649 outside 75 Stottholm Road
- Install a new yellow BUS STOP marking to improve visibility of the designated bus stop
- Install tactile pavers at the stop, which are yellow guidance markers to help visually impaired passengers safely find their way
A drawing showing the changes has been sent with this letter.
Benefits to your community
- A bus shelter improves comfort while waiting for the bus as it provides people with a place to sit and protection from the wind and rain.
- Better access and connections to public transport helps with bus reliability and frequency.
- Encourages public transport use, which can reduce traffic congestion and support more sustainable travel choices.
- New road markings and signs clarify right of way, improve safety by minimising risk of collisions, and ensures compliance with traffic regulations
