Bus improvements opposite 39 Shelly Beach Road, Saint Marys Bay

We are proposing to install a new bus stop and shelter opposite 39 Shelly Beach Road, Saint Marys Bay to improve accessibility to the 866 and 966 bus services. This is in response to a request made by the community.

The 866 travels from Albany to Newmarket Monday to Friday from 5:30am – 8:00pm, every 10 minutes at peak and 30 minutes off-peak. Meanwhile, the 966 travels from Beach Haven to Newmarket Monday to Friday from 5:45am – 8:30pm every 10 minutes at peak and 30 minutes off-peak. Both services travel through Ponsonby and Auckland Hospital.

Bus installation work details:

  • New bus stop and shelter opposite 39 Shelly Beach Road
  • New pedestrian refuge island outside 42 and 45 Shelly Beach Road for people wanting to cross and access the new bus stop
  • Moving the power pole in front of 39 Shelly Beach Road back to the boundary (800m back)
  • New Stop sign on Tweed Street

Project Funding

This project is part of the Bus Programme of Works (BPoW) and uses the Bus Access and Optimization (BAO) budget.
