Tonight there will be asphalt paving between Winscombe Street and Williamson Ave plus road line marking.

There will be no vehicle access on Seacliffe Ave between 6.45pm tonight to 5am tomorrow and we apologise for the inconvenience.

Please have your vehicles inside your property by 6.45pm tonight, should you wish to park within your property tonight.

All other traffic will continue to detour until the road fully reopens on Friday morning.

Thursday 16 July night shift: asphalt paving between Williamson Ave and Montgomery Ave plus line marking, in addition to completing speed tables at Williamson Ave and adjacent to No. 26.

We plan to reinstate the two speed tables at the Williamson Ave intersection and adjacent to No. 26 Seacliffe Ave.

This final phase will take place with a 24/7 lane closure on Seacliffe Ave between Winscombe Street and Montgomery Ave to deliver these improvements as quickly as possible. We’re completing work to rebuild a section of Seacliffe Ave, between Winscombe Street and Montgomery Ave, as part of our regular road renewals programme. Once completed this will make the road stronger, safer, and better prepared for bad weather.

Our work has been carried out in two phases. Phase 2 is the second and last phase, which requires full lane closures. Work will take place in July 2026.

This final phase will take place with a 24/7 lane closure on Seacliffe Ave between Winscombe Street and Montgomery Ave to deliver these improvements as quickly as possible. One lane will remain available for residents living within the work site, providing restricted vehicle access.

  • Routine checks showed the road is nearing the end of its lifespan.
  • Upgrading now will make it safer and prevent future issues.

  • All other traffic will be on diversion.
  • Clear signage will be in place and traffic managers will help keep things moving.

  • Residents with driveways on Seacliffe Ave between Winscombe Street and Montgomery Ave within our work site will not have vehicle access for a minimum of three days and five nights.
  • On-site staff to help people walking or driving nearby.

How it may impact you
  • On-street parking will be limited during works. You may need to either park on your property or on a side road and walk to your property.

  • Works will create noise and vibration; we’ll do our best to keep noise levels down.

  • Vehicle access to properties will be maintained, except on concrete pour days. Contractors will notify you 24 – 48 hours in advance if your property is affected to help accommodate any specific needs.

How travel is affected
  • Lanes on Seacliffe Drive will be reduced, and traffic may be managed with a Stop/Go sign system at times.

  • Temporary speed limits will be in place.

  • Pedestrian access will be affected as sections of the footpath will be closed. Alternative access will be provided.

  • Alternative bus stops will be in place as Stops 3497, 3528 and 3499 will be impacted. Use the AT Mobile app to receive notifications with updated information about changes to routes and stops near you.

Traffic controllers will be on site to assist residents, drivers- and pedestrians around the work site. Please follow all signs, light signals and traffic directions.

We’re upgrading a section of Seacliffe Avenue, between Winscombe Street and Montgomery Avenue to make it stronger, safer and ready for future growth in Belmont, as part of our Summer Road Reno regular road maintenance programme.

  • This upgrade is more than just a new road surface – it’s an investment in the future of Takapuna.
  • Our work will make the road stronger, safer, and better prepared for bad weather.
  • This 8-week upgrade will be done in two phases. We’ll be improving stormwater drainage, rebuilding the road foundation, and resurfacing the road.

The Summer Road Reno renewals programme is part of our ongoing investment to maintain and improve Auckland’s transport network, making roads safer, more reliable, and helping to keep Auckland moving.


The work we’ll be doing and traffic management & detours

  • We’ll be doing work in stages for approximately 8 weeks. We’ll be working from 7am – 7pm to deliver this project as quickly as possible. We know construction can be disruptive.
  • We aim to start work on time but factors outside our control, such as weather, could mean a delayed timeline. If the delay is significant, we’ll let you know and update the webpage regularly.
  • In advance of our start date there will be digital signs set up along the route to inform the community about the closure and traffic directions for surrounding roads, also see the maps on our webpage.
  • Expect traffic delays, especially during peak times. Bus stops could be affected – please use the AT mobile app or the QR codes on posters at Bus Stops for more information.
  • Follow all traffic signs, signals, and directions for safety. Take care while driving, walking, or cycling in the area.
  • Driveway and vehicle access to properties could be restricted when we work outside your property. If your driveway is restricted, you will need to park nearby and walk home. On-street parking will be limited.
  • Vehicle access to properties we are working near will not be available during concrete pours and potentially whilst the concrete cures. Residents will be contacted 24 – 48 hours prior to the concrete pours to help accommodate any specific needs.
  • Footpaths will remain accessible to local residents.
  • Council waste and recycling collection will continue as normal. If access to your bin collection spot is restricted, our team will assist you with an alternative location.
  • We’ll try to keep noise levels down and we apologise for the inconvenience.
  • If your driveway is restricted, you will need to park nearby and walk home or to your place of business.
