Improving safety on Scott Road, Hobsonville

Two projects are planned on Scott Road: A new section of shared path, and new parking restrictions

Construction update

These projects are now in the construction phase. The works will be delivered alongside other upgrade works on Scott Road including:

• Construction of a new shared path and parking bays
• A new bus stop
• Road resurfacing, road pavement upgrades and road marking
• Installation of new street lighting

Work will take place from 5 October 2026 and continue until late February 2027, subject to weather and site conditions.

Most work will take place during the day - 7am to 7pm, although some night works may be required between 8pm and 6am.

How will the works affect access?

Access will be maintained throughout the project.

However, residents and visitors should allow extra travel time as traffic management will be in place. Access to the Ryman Healthcare Village will be maintained.

This includes:

• A single-lane closure on Scott Road between the Clark Road roundabout and Thomas Rielly Avenue from 9.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday
• Temporary traffic lights and traffic controllers to assist vehicles and pedestrians
• A period of 24-hour lane closures later in the project while pavement works are completed
• To help avoid delays, residents and visitors may choose to use the temporary road between Squadron Drive and Joshua Carder Drive as an alternative route during the works. Please note this route is intended for light vehicles only, as heavy vehicles are not permitted to use this road

Please note this package of works includes works being completed by Ryman Healthcare as a part of their development, and some works being delivered by Auckland Council (previously AT). We are working together with one contractor to complete the works as a package to minimise the impact on the community.

New section of shared path on Scott Road outside Hobsonville Church

To make it easier for people to walk or cycle around your area, we’re planning to build a new section of shared path along Scott Road, past the Hobsonville Church, where there is currently a gravel path.

The new section of shared path will connect the paths from the corner of Clark Road to the path outside the Ryman Retirement Village. These improvements are proposed to be delivered with other works on Scott Road, starting on 5 October 2026.

Improving Safety on Scott Road, by Restricting Parking on the road

We are planning changes on Scott Road, Hobsonville to improve safety and traffic flow along this narrow section of road.

Scott Road is a narrow roadway, and parked vehicles currently make it difficult for drivers to pass through smoothly, particularly around the bend. This has created visibility and safety concerns for people driving, walking, and cycling.

To improve safety for everyone using this road, we are planning to keep this section clear and easier to drive through.

Changes are we making in late 2026:

• Road marking works will be included in a series of other road improvement works in the area starting on 5 October 2026.
