About the project

Auckland Transport and the Manurewa Local Board are working together to respond to safety concerns raised by the community about speeding, near misses and a reported crash on Scenic Drive in Hill Park.

Our traffic speed survey shows about 20 - 30% of vehicles exceed the speed limit on Scenic Drive.

We’re planning changes that will create a safer environment for everyone – whether you’re driving, walking, cycling or using mobility aids.

The changes we’re planning

We are planning to install six speed humps at the following locations:

  • 33 Scenic Avenue
  • 49 Scenic Avenue
  • 41 Scenic Avenue
  • Corner of Walpole Avenue and Scenic Avenue
  • 26 Scenic Avenue
  • 7 Scenic Avenue

How this will benefit your neighbourhood

These changes will:

  • Slow down vehicles to safer speeds to make it safer for everyone
  • Discourage drivers from rat-running and speeding along the road
  • Keep all current on-street parking (no parking loss)

This project is funded by the Local Board Transport Capital Fund Programme which supports improvements based on community priorities. The improvements will be delivered by Auckland Transport on behalf of your local board.

What happens next

Construction is scheduled for summer 2026. Residents will be notified before we start construction.

If you’d like to share your thoughts, ask questions or let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz by the 25 September 2025.

Any change to our plans will be updated on this website.
