About the project

We’ve received requests from the community to address safety concerns and improve visibility caused by vehicles parked illegally around the intersection of Tirimoana Road and Glendene Avenue in Glendene.

Cars parked along the bend and on both sides of Glendene Avenue near the intersection with Tirimoana Road, presents a danger to drivers, buses and other road users. It makes it difficult for drivers to see oncoming cars, cyclists and people walking and crossing the road.

The changes we're making in 2025

  • Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) along Glendene Avenue and Tirimoana Road, as detailed in the drawing attached with this letter. It is already illegal to park this close to the intersection, we are reinforcing this with broken yellow lines.

Drawings on the right hand side of this webpage, show where the changes will be installed

Benefits to your community

  • Clears and ensures ease of access for all vehicles into and out of Glendene Avenue, including services like buses, waste removal and emergency services.

  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making it safer, particularly for tamariki (children).

It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions. We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.

Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.

What happens next

We are planning to install these changes in 2025.

Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.

We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.
