About the project
We’ll be improving crossing safety outside 81 Saddleback Rise in Murrays Bay.
Thanks to the Hibiscus & Bays Local Board Capital Transport fund, the new crossing facilities will prioritise people crossing especially our tamariki and the local community.
The changes we're making
- Installing a new raised zebra crossing, near 81 Saddleback Rise, Murrays Bay Raising the crossing so its level with the footpath slows drivers on approach, ensures people crossing can be seen by motorists
- Upgrade the footpaths on either side of the crossing including more room to wait to cross.
- Paint "No Stopping at All Times" (broken yellow lines) – to clear access and visibility near the crossing on Saddleback Rise and near the intersection on Aotearoa Terrace
- Painting new road markings, installing signs and beacon lights so motorists know to slow on approach and to give priority to people crossing the road here.
A drawing on the next page shows where we will be installing these safety improvements.
Benefits to your community
