Intersection safety improvements, Franklin

We are proposing intersection speed zones at two locations in Franklin to reduce turning crashes and make these intersections safer for everyone. This targeted, cost-effective safety improvement uses variable speed limit signs and sensors to detect a vehicle waiting to turn. If a turning vehicle is detected the speed limit on the main road is temporarily lowered to 60km/h, before returning to 80km/h once the turn is made.

Great South Road, Runciman

Approximate length: 340 meters

Current speed limit: 80km/h

Proposed new speed limit: 60km/h variable

Papakura Clevedon Road

Approximate length: 360 meters

Current speed limit: 80km/h

Proposed new speed limit: 60km/h variable

These changes are proposed under the Setting of Speed Limits Rule 2024. Your input will help inform the decision.
