About the project
Auckland Transport (AT) is proposing road safety improvements in Randwick Park to create a safer environment for all road users. The Local Board and Randwick Park Residents Association have requested stronger action to improve safety for everyone using our streets. We've also heard from residents that more needs to be done to address ongoing safety concerns in the community.

In response, we propose speed-calming measures, such as:

  • Speed cushions
  • Pedestrian islands

These proposed measures will help create a slower speed environment reducing the risk of crashes and making the streets safer for everyone.

The project is supported by Manurewa Local Board and partially funded through the Local Board Transport Capital Fund and is part of the Residential Speed Management programme.

Proposed Changes

The proposed changes cover the area bounded by Alfriston Road, Porchester Road, Papakura stream and State Highway 1:

Speed cushions with side islands on

  • Shifnal Drive
  • Hyperion Drive
  • Limond Street
  • Skelton Avenue
  • Magic Way
  • Riverton Drive
  • Foxlaw Street
  • Nearco Street
  • Balloch Street
  • Trimdon Street

Upgrade existing pedestrian island with speed cushions on

  • Shifnal Drive
  • Riverton Drive
  • Hyperion Drive

Pedestrian island with speed cushion on

  • Riverton Drive

How will this proposal benefit your community

The speed calming measures we propose will:

  • Reduce vehicle speeds.
  • Help to reduce the risk of serious injuries and deaths.
  • Help to create slower speed environment, which is safer for everyone, especially for tamariki (children).
