Engagement Outcome
Thank you to everyone who reached out and shared their insights for our planned safety improvements at this intersection.
The engagement for this project has finished. We are proceeding with a small refinement to the original design:
- Installing no-parking signage on the berm within 100 metres of the intersection to maintain clearance and visibility
What the community said about the project
- "Great idea, please get on with it."
- "I fully support these changes. I’ve driven through this intersection numerous times and this route is frequently used by people rat-running to and from Lynnmall as a way of bypassing the usually busy Clark St..."
What happens next
- We are looking at installing these changes in August 2026.
- Any updates to the plan will be posted on our website.
- We will be in touch with the local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.

About the project
As part of our Road Safety Programme, we are planning safety improvements at this busy intersection in New Lynn to make journeys easier, safer and more reliable for people to get around.
The changes we’re making:
- Installing a new mountable roundabout to slow vehicles and make the busy intersection safer for all road users.
- Upgrading pram crossings to make it easier and safer for everyone to cross.
- Installing new markings and signs to clarify lanes and right of way.
- Installing ‘No stopping at all times’ (broken yellow lines) to maintain clear sightlines.
