About this project
We’re responding to concerns raised by the community and Marina View School to improve crossing safety because vehicles are travelling too fast near the back entrance of the school. This makes it unsafe for children and families walking and crossing the road.
Thanks to the Upper Harbour Local Board Transport Capital Fund, we’ll be installing new SLOW road markings, signs and no-stopping lines, to help make the area safer and remind drivers to slow down.
The changes we’re making in early 2026:
New red SLOW road markings and signs in front of #8 and #11 Picasso Drive.
Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) at the intersection of Picasso Drive and Vermeer Place.
A drawing showing the changes is included below.
Benefits to your community:
The red SLOW markings will make drivers more aware of tamariki and families, improving safety around the school.
Improves visibility and makes the intersection safer for everyone
Walking is good for the environment and good for your health. It helps reduce reliance on cars for local trips, decreasing traffic congestion and reducing our carbon emissions.
What happens next:
We will be in touch with residents before any work takes place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
How to contact us:
If you’d like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our websiteby 7 December 2025.
