Improving parking availability at the Netball Centre on Northcote Road

About the project

We’ve received a request from The Barfoot & Thompson Netball Centre to extend the hours of the current P2 parking restriction on Northcote Road which applies from 8am-5pm.

Concerns have been raised that vehicles are parking long term in the bay after 5pm but games are still being played after 8pm. This bay is meant to be used as a quick drop off and pick up point and not for long term parking, given its close location on a very busy road leading to and from the motorway.

Benefits to your community

• Easier accessibility for quick drop offs and pick ups outside the Netball Centre especially during evening or weekend events when it can get busy
• With enforced short term parking, more visitors can use the space efficiently reducing congestion and improving traffic flow
• Safety of players & visitors: consistent 2-minute parking improves space availability for those needing quick access, such as younger players and families helping them to quickly enter and exit the netball centre safely
• The change will enable the parking bay to be used for its intended purpose reducing illegal parking and minimising potential issues with enforcement.

What happens next

We are planning to install these changes in February 2025.
