Project Overview
We're proposing safety and access improvements at the cul‑de‑sac end of Newell Street, Point Chevalier. This proposal responds to a request from the Auckland Council (AC) waste management operations team to improve the safety of rubbish collection services on the street.
Currently, vehicles parking at the end of the cul-de-sac restricts the ability of collection trucks to safely manoeuvre and turn. As a result, trucks are often required to reverse the length of Newell Street, creating a safety risk for both operators and the community.
The changes we're proposing
Install broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) at the end of the cul-de-sac on Newell Street.
Remove four on-street parking spaces to improve vehicle access and manoeuvrability.
These changes aim to improve safety and ensure service vehicles, including rubbish trucks, can access and operate in the street more safely and efficiently.
You can view the proposed changes in the attached drawing - refer to 'Document' section.
Benefits for your community
Improved community safety through safer manoeuvring of collection vehicles.
More reliable access for rubbish trucks and other service vehicles.
Safer and clearer access at the end of the cul-de-sac.
