About the project

We want to make it easier for residents and their visitors to be able to park in the East Coast Road slip lane opposite Rangitoto College.

Currently, there is a 5-minute parking restriction (P5) operating in the area, from 8am to 6pm for 7 days, not giving any opportunity to park during outside school times.

The changes we're making by February 2026

  • Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) on one side of Skua Road to help clear access and improve visibility.
  • Changing the current 5-minute parking restrictions (P5) operating from 8am-6pm, Monday to Sunday to only school pick up and drop off times, 8.15am - 9.15am and 2.45pm - 3.45pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Install new P5 signage to indicate these restrictions.
  • Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) near the corner of East Coast Road slip lane and Dalmeny Close.

Benefits to your community

  • Makes it easier for residents and visitors to find parking spaces.
  • Maintains regular parking turnover by giving more people an opportunity to park.

What happens next

  • Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
  • We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any work taking place.
  • It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions.
  • We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
  • Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parking illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
