About the project

Waiheke Island and Matiatia Wharf connect the community to our ferry services, and we need to do some maintenance work in 2025 to keep them operational for locals and visitors!

The work we will be doing will include

  • Relocating Coastguard to Pier 4
  • Removal of redundant fuel assets to maximise public space.

Benefits to your Community

  • Matiatia is Auckland's second busiest wharf and this maintenance work will ensure continued use for all.
  • Provide a dedicated space for public dinghy mooring on pier 4.

What you need to know when we start the work

  • Ferry service providers will continue to operate as usual during this time
  • There might be some noise, but we’ll try to minimise it
  • Areas of the public wharf may be closed at times, please follow instructions from our onsite teams

What to expect during construction

We will work with ferry service providers and operators to inform you of any changes ahead of time.

Auckland Transport is working alongside specialists to ensure our work does not have any long-term impact on the local environment.
