Improving bus services in South Auckland

In April 2026 we're making changes to bus services in Manurewa, Clendon Park, Wiri, Puhinui, Ōtara, Highbrook & Ormiston to provide people with better bus connections to jobs, education, train stations and shopping centres.

With more buses in more locations more people will be able to get to more places more often.

These new bus services need new bus stops and changes to existing bus stops. This webpage will give you more information about these new bus stops and changes and give you the chance to give your feedback on them. Use the survey

Use the survey at the bottom of the page to give us your feedback.

Feedback is open until 4pm, 14 December 2025 for bus stop changes on Roys Road, Lanes Road, Waimai Avenue and Wordsworth Road.

These changes are funded by Auckland Council’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate (CATTR).

More details of the changes can be found on the AT website here: https://at.govt.nz/projects-initiatives/south-auckland-projects-and-initiatives/bus-changes-in-south-auckland(External link)

Why we’re making these changes

Whether people choose to drive, walk, cycle, bus, train or ferry their way around the region, Auckland Transport supports viable options that make journeys quicker, easier and safer.

This will enable what matters most to Aucklanders: a convenient, well-connected, accessible and reliable transport system.

Transport choices will meet the varying needs of Aucklanders so they can live their lives and enjoy our region now and into the future as we continue to grow.

Achieving the vision will require great public transport, an efficient and sustainable transport network and safe and seamless journeys for everyone.

The changes we’re proposing

A new bus route 37 will travel between Manurewa and Highbrook along Weymouth Road, through Clendon Park and Wiri along Roscommon Rd, Puhinui Rd, Preston Rd, Springs Rd and East Tamaki Road. Route 37 will run every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. It will run before and after these times but less frequently.

The existing Route 362 will travel on the whole of Wordsworth Road and no longer travel on Rowendale Avenue.

Have your say on the bus stop changes we’re proposing

We're planning changes to bus stops on Wordsworth Road, Waimai Avenue, Roys Road and Lane Road. View the plans below and if you have any feedback, please complete the survey at the bottom of the page.

The bus stop placements are based on a 400m spacing between stops, which gives optimal distance for people in the surrounding areas to walk to these stops.

43 & opposite 51 Wordsworth Road.

We are proposing to install new bus stops at 43 Wordsworth Road and at opposite 51 Wordsworth Road. This includes painting the bus stop box onto the road and adding broken yellow lines in front of and behind the bus stops outside 43 and 45 Weymouth Road and along Wordsworth Road outside the property between 56 Wordsworth Road and Winsford St.

See images below (These plans are also downloadable as a PDF in the documents to the right, labelled "Wordsworth Road.pdf".)

  • installing bus stops outside 99 Wordsworth Road and 108/110 Wordsworth Road
  • a new pedestrian crossing facility between 102 and 103 Wordsworth Road
  • adding broken yellow lines in front of and behind the bus stops and around the pedestrian crossing from Bedlington Avenue to 95 Wordsworth Road and from 94 Wordsworth Road to 110B Wordsworth Road
