About the Project
Thanks to the Henderson-Massey Local Board and the Transport Capital Fund, we’re making Keeling Road safer and easier for people to walk and cycle by building a short section of shared path (around 40 metres). This will connect the two sections of the Opanuku Stream Cycle and Walkway that leads out onto Keeling Road so people can stay on the shared path instead of using the road.
The changes we’re making by June 2026
Build a new shared path about 2.5 metres wide so people walking and cycling can travel safely.
Remove a few trees where needed and plant new ones nearby to keep the area green.
Put in clear road markings and signs so everyone knows where to walk, cycle, and park.
Paint new “No Stopping At All Times” (Broken Yellow Lines) in front of 57 Keeling Road.
A drawing showing the changes can be found to the right of this page.
Benefits to your community
More travel choices: Safer options for walking, biking, or scooting that support your health, your whānau, and the environment.
Better connections: Links the Opanuku Stream Path back onto Keeling Road and connects to the cycle path near 54 Keeling Road, improving access to local paths and wider networks.
Health and wellbeing: Encourages active lifestyles and time outdoors in your neighbourhood.
Safer for everyone: Shared paths separate people from traffic, making it safer for tamariki and whānau to walk or bike.
What happens next
We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any work taking place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
