About the project

We’ve received requests from waste management services to improve vehicle access along Brandon Road in Glen Eden.

This area is a narrow cul-de-sac and having cars parked on both sides of the road presents access issues not just for residents, but to emergency services and large vehicles like rubbish trucks. Changes are needed to make sure driveways are kept clear for ease of access for all vehicles, and the residents to get in and out of their homes and the street safely.

The changes we're making by September 2025

  • Paint "no stopping at all times" (broken yellow lines) outside #1 and #2 Brandon Road
  • To ensure clear access to this section of the road, we will need to re-allocate road space and remove 4 parking spaces.

A drawing on the next page shows where the broken yellow lines will be installed.

Benefits to your community

  • Clears and ensures ease of access for all residents, emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks into and out of Brandon Road
  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming vehicles as well as people walking, cycling and crossing the road. This makes it safer particularly for tamariki (children), who can be hard to see when there are lots of cars parking on the road
  • Improves safety by preventing parked vehicles from obstructing their view coming out of driveways and access to homes along the road during emergency situations.

It will take one day to paint the road markings in good weather conditions. We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.

Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
