Project Update: Improving vehicle access in Brandon Road

In March 2025, we responded to requests from the community and waste management services to improve vehicle access in Brandon Road.

Brandon Road is a narrow cul-de-sac, and parked cars can make it hard for residents, rubbish trucks and emergency vehicles to get through. We need to make some changes to keep driveways clear and improve access and safety for everyone.

After our first letter, we received more feedback from residents. So, we’ve made some changes to the original plan (these are show in bold below)

The changes we're making by November 2025

  • Install no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) outside #5 Brandon Road. We will need to clear access and visibility by relocating road space which will remove one parking space
  • Replace the white triangle marking between #3 and #5 Brandon Road with broken yellow lines to highlight that this section of the road is not sufficient to accommodate a parked vehicle. Parking within one metre of a driveway is not allowed as it causes driver visibility issues.
  • Install no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) restrictions outside #1 and #2 Brandon Road, around the head of the cul-de-sac. We will need to clear access and visibility by relocating road space which will remove four parking spaces.

A drawing on the next page shows where the broken yellow lines will be installed.

Benefits to your community

  • Clears congestion and ensures ease of access for all residents, emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks into and out of Brandon Road
  • Improves safety by preventing parked vehicles from obstructing their view coming out of driveways and access to homes along the road during emergency situations.

We remind all drivers to park correctly and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
